Extravaganza Extras and Add Ons

The Extravaganza is a great experience at its core, but there are some optional items that require a pre-registration or extra fee to help cover the cost. We hope you take advantage of these special opportunities within the Extravaganza schedule!

First Timer’s Welcome, Tour and Dinner

Friday, February 11; 5:00pm

Is this your first time attending the Extravaganza in person? Or would you like a refresher? The Hospitality Team is ready to welcome you on Friday with a tour that includes a behind the scenes look at the Extravaganza along with insider tips on how to get the most out of this experience! You won’t want to miss the dinner afterwards, to begin networking with new friends! Welcome and Tour are free and open to everyone. Register and pay for the First Timer’s Dinner at the time of registration. The dinner is offsite, within walking distance of the hotel.

Rostered Leader’s Dinner

Friday, February 11; 5:00pm

Rostered ministry has its own unique set of joys and challenges. Network with other Rostered Leaders over dinner on Friday. Register and pay for the Rostered Leader’s Dinner at the time of event registration.

Theology Pub

Saturday, February 12; 8:30-10:30pm

What could be more Lutheran than theological banter over a beverage? We’ll gather at a local pub on Saturday night at 8:30pm. First drink is on us! 

Synod Lunches

Sunday, February 13; 1:00-3:00pm

Synods often gather for a meal to spend time together networking on a local level. Check the schedule on the app to see if your synod is gathering and where to meet. If you are a synod leader, contact Catherine Anderson to have your Synod Lunch listed. Synods are responsible for making their own arrangements.

Super Bowl Party

Gather in the Minneapolis Ballroom to watch the game on the big screen!

Deeper Dives

Sunday, February 13; 6:30pm

Not into the Super Bowl? These learning opportunities provide more time to dig into a topic for learning and conversation.

Most of the Deeper Dives are open to select that day, however, some options require a pre-registration to be able to gather supplies. You can learn more about the Deeper Dive opportunities here.

Cranberry Jam

Sunday, February 13 after the game concludes

Join us in person and online for a hymn sing Sunday night! We will gather in the Minneapolis Ballroom and on the livestream shortly after the Super Bowl ends (approximately 9pm).

ELCA Youth Gathering Minneapolis Tour

Cost: $22. Tours are identical, please only select one to allow for more leaders the chance to participate. 

Tour Option #1: Friday, February 11; 1:00-3:30pm
Tour Option #2: Saturday, February 12; 1:15-3:45pm

The 2022 ELCA Youth Gathering tour begins at the Hilton Minneapolis where we’ll take a short walk together through the Skyway to the Minneapolis Convention Center (MCC). Next, board the bus for a city tour which will take you by several places including popular murals, US Bank Stadium, Gold Medal Park and Gathering hotels. We’ll hear from one of our Service Learning partners and don't forget your hat, gloves and cell phone as we'll hop off the bus for a photo op at the famous Spoonbridge and Cherry at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. The tour will be hosted by a local resident and a Gathering leader, both equipped to answer your questions about the city and the Gathering. Unfortunately, refunds cannot be offered.

Special Note: Participants of the "How to Lead a Group at the ELCA Youth Gathering" ICC are invited to participate in the Saturday tour and the fee is included with their ICC registration and do not need to purchase an additional ticket. Gathering ICC participants will indicate their intention to participate in the tour as a part of the Extravaganza registration form.
